It can depend on the extent of the damage

Some really fine sandpaper or pumice but not the stuff in your garden. It has to be smooth and fine grained. Just for a very small nick. If its deep or major it won't work. Just rub lightly.

I personally just use sandpaper. I use Norton brand wet/dry paper, and I find the 400 or 600 grit puts a nice finish on the strop, as well as removes any little nicks. Do it lightly to see how it goes at first, you don't want to get overzealous with that too!

Thanked: 735I find that after sanding a light application of neatsfoot oil helps restore a uniform finish as well.

it's just a tiny one but its not in the edge, in about .5" from the edge and I can feel it when i strop. I'm such an idiot. I knew I should have kept playing on the practice strop. even though I hadn't nicked my old strop since I first got it a few months ago. it was just the excitement I guess

You might try a tiny bit of white glue and press it firmly while drying. You don't want it squeezing out all over btw
Then sand it.
