Everything everyone here has told you u[ til now is all BS. The reason they strop so much is because they like to fondle their razors.
Come on guys, you know it's true.

Thanked: 39Ron, I don't think that's entirely true..I found that 100 passes worked better than 50..but then it could be psychologically
Anyway that's what I think

Thanked: 9On my daily razor, I do 25/50, minimum. Double or triple that if I've just come off the hone.

60 passes on each side of the strop. Except for my russian strop which only has one side and it's 70 passes on it.

50 laps on a custom made premium horsehide strop. But of course I have very sharp razors and an excellent strop.

Because I only have a 4k Belgian blue stone, I find a big difference in stropping 100/100 on linen/leather on an Illinois 827 rather than the 30/60 I used to give it.As soon as I can I will get an 8k stone.

Stropping=Improvement
Yes, yes, yes. I did not know how much better the shaves could be until I started "excessive" stropping. Here is my formula for doing just that: I have TWO STROPS. One hangs in the bathroom, the other hangs in my shop. I carry a straight razor with me at all times in leather pouches I make from scrap leather. As I go about chores and other rat-killing, I sometimes take a few seconds to apply a few strops to my carried razor just to feel good. Stropping does make a person feel good. Soon I have another sweet razor for guaranteed BBS for the effort and cost of an extra strop. Several short sessions with the strops and a fairly long one just before the shave make that happen. Always give a few strops after the shave to dry and clean the edge. It works for me. Simple. Robert
