    Default 2 Strops.......Homemade

The first on is one I put in a vise and is for the house. The second is one for traveling. (May have to go out of town for a few days soon) Just some leather laying around and boredom got the best of me.

The last pic of the smaller strop shows each end. I used some para cord for the off end. Hang from a door knob or something similar and you are in business. Also the smaller one fits the cut down W.R. Case razor nicely.

They both look fantastic. Have you managed to shave with a razor stropped on your homemade strops? What kind of leather is it, cowhide? Nice work, let me know when you start production.

Thanks Dave! The shave is quite nice from these. I had a homemade paddle, but it is now my pasted strop. I find the edge is more keen from these then the old way. It is more consistent. The leather is cowhide, oil tanned. I have a good sized bin of it. You can tell where I scuffed the leather a little with the razor. They do work great. They are untreated and I just massage them a little before use. I burnished the surface with a hammer handle. The lighter colored one was bent quite badly. I soaked in water then hung with a weight on the end of it. Straight as an arrow.

You've just given me the last little bit of idea I needed for a travel strop for some upcoming TDYs. THANKS! 550 cord and a couple of rivets are going to find themselves very useful in the near future...
