Was it $20 customs fee, or is this the good old UPS brokerage charge. Customs usually only charges $5.00 plus gst and pst, and usually they only do that with packages over $50.00. It's about a 50-50 with values over that when shipped USPS. If you can always have it shipped USPS and avoid UPS as much as possible.

Now that I think about it, it did come by UPS. Ah well at least now I know to be more careful. You live and learn as I sometimes say. Georgous shift knob though, the recipient was very happy : )

My SRD strop and Cr paste arrived today, total customs damage was $8.04, so that comes out to a $5 charge from customs and $3 in GST (no PST in Alberta). Hope that helps.

Keep your purchase prices as low as possible breaking them up into several purchases if necessary and always insist on USPS surface shipping. You'll have to wait a little, but it's worth it on your pocket book. If you know anyone in the states, you can have it shipped to them and get them to forward it to you marked as a gift.
