    Default Line and Leather

What is the linen side for? I have read it is for Crom OX or just to be used by itself. I get what the leather side is for but does the type of leather matter?

Where can I pick up scrap linen and leather for a project that I am working on?

There are loads of threads here discussing this.
Linen/canvas may be a little abrasive & it's often suggested that it could be that it heats the blade enough to make re-aligning the edge on leather a little easier. The type of leather is less important than the quality, though each type tends to have it's own characteristics regarding draw. As far as i'm aware the end results are very similar.
Can't help on supplies i'm afraid, but it's probably important that the supplier understands your requirements.
Oh, & i'd advise against pasting the linen side of your clean leather to avoid contamination. Get a whole new strop & paste each side with a different grit.
