    Default Strop Question

I kinda half asked this a while ago, but I still wasn't completely sure.

I have a black beauty strop which is two pieces of leather. There is a very small difference in the texture of the two pieces and I'm confused as to what they do differently to the blade when stropping.

There's some pictures if they work.

Well the pictures didn't show for me, but if you right click and show in a new window of tab they seem to work.

The one I used to have a "coarse" side - the surface had something like fine carborundum grit embedded in it somehow. It gently refeshes a slightly dull blade and is used like you would use canvas. The plain leather side had "finish" stamped on the handle in gold lettering and the leather on that side looked a little thicker, but its quite a long time ago now...

    Regards,
