Henley's Formulas 1938

#1 Jewelers Rouge, plumbago, suet, equal parts melt, mix, use when cold.

#2 Levigated oxide of tin 3 parts, lard 2 parts, crocus martis 1 part, mix

#3 Tin oxide 1 oz.
Oxalic Acid 1/4 oz.
Powdered Gum 20 grains
Make a stiff paste with water, spread evenly and thinly on strop, the other side should be conditioned
with a greasy mixture, slightly moisten before use by breathing on the pasted side.

Helpful hints.. Plumbago is graphite
Oxalic acid is added as a rust preventive ( I think)
Generally most of the formulas use a finely powdered polishing agent, tin, Iron, or a natural one, Lard or wax softened with oil seems to be in as well. I hope this is useful.
