Default Wrinkled Strop used as Pasted Strop

    Hi,

After reading this thread http://straightrazorpalace.com/strop...led-strop.html , I decided to try and repair a strop I have that has wrinkles from when it was shipped to me.

First I applied dovo yellow paste and allowed it to semi-"soak" in, then I went at it with a glass bottle.

Now the wrinkles are 10x as better as they were but you can still feel them when stropping.

I now have a proforma strop that I am waiting to pick up from my GF in the UK, my question is would I be able to use the wrinkled strop as a pasted strop (CrOx) without adverse results?

Just trying to make the most of what I have!

    Thanks!

Thanks, thats pretty much what I thought. I will carry on with the bottle treatment but I fear that it may be a lost cause

If the wrinkles aren't very deep, you could try sanding the strop with fine (I used 600 grit) wet'n'dry paper. It takes the surface of and leaves a velvety knap that is great for taking on CrOx powder.

I sanded a few minor wrinkles out of a relatively new belt that the buckle snapped on and its now functioning well as my daily strop (essentially as a paddle set on a flat piece of marble) this is likely to continue until Tony starts accepting special orders again....

Thanks for the great advice guys, I have the wrinkles removed from the centre of the strop its just at the very edges now (this was done by the yellow paste and bottle method) The edges are going to take a bit more work so I will I will try your sand paper method!

    Cheers!
