    Hal,
Glad you got a Merit too from Linda (Booklady). Mine is great and I am using it with a Russian Korova Kozha leather strop.

Have you seen any of the Jemico strops. I have a small, very reddish looking one. pebble leather on the back side, flat tight suede finish on the business side. it's so red it looks like it is impregnated with red paste which it may well be. it is marked simply Jemico Russian. They make a high end strop, $90 or so with a really soft looking linen. Seems to be a loose weave but I did get to handle one to tell for sure.

Thanks Tony. BTW, I saw a Russian Strop like the one you have listed on ebay, and if I hadn't had so many good ones at the moment, I would have bid on it. My Llama brand and Red Imp are my favorites, both of which I won on ebay.

I haven't handled any of those Jerrico strops, but the smaller Jerricos that I've seen, look a lot like the Russian Dovo?

    Hal,
I got the Russian strop on eBay a hour or so before I sniped that Merit away from you  At least I got you hooked up with another. Mine is cow hide (Karova Kozha means cowhide) and missed a calf hide one earlier that evening.

The small Jemicos do look like the Dovos but the larger ones differ.

    Tony
