A good linen cleaning
Hey all,
So I decided that my linen strop needed a good cleaning! It was getting quite dirty, and I couldn't help but wonder how that affected the stropping. So I took the advice of Joed (who had a thread about cleaning his linen strop), and just got my linen strop wet, and rubbed a bar of soap into it! I rubbed and rubbed, even used a nail brush. Then I simply rinsed it off.
The results were outstanding!! ALL of the discolouration washed right off, leaving me with a super-white, good as new, linen strop!
The pictures speak for themselves. The first 2 are of the strop before washing, and the last 2 are of it after washing.
I can't believe how easy it was, all I did was: 1) Wet the linen with water.
2) Rubbed soap into it (I used dove, not that it matters)
3) Rinse off with water, and dry.
4) Enjoy your white as snow linen strop!
I still have to let it dry a bit, but I can't wait to see how it performs now!

Well I dried it (I just used a hair dryer on it for a bit) and stropped a razor on it.
Very nice! A lot smoother than when it was gunked up. My advice for anyone who has a dirty linen strop is to clean it. You'll be happy you did.

Hey man, you need all that crap on your strop:
I think all that rust and crud helps to polish the edge a little, plus it keeps the ole' immune system in high gear!
I keed, I keed.

It looks great but what are you going to do when it gets dirty again? You know, it is white and its starts to show dirt pretty fast.
