I use a rainbow stroke on my strop. Start at one end and sorta arc the blade across the leather using either my thumb or index finger to keep the spine on the leather and the blade down. Sounds weird but I have a problem with a floating edge if I do not. I even use this method when honing. No pressure just use the finger to keep the spine down and the edge against the leather.

Anyone else using this or is this a newb thing?
