PUMA Germany leather/canvas strop?
Hey guys
I saw a PUMA leather/canvas vintage strop at an antiques store, and was wondering if anyone has any info or experience with PUMA strops.. basically are they any good?
The condition is pretty much fantastic save for a noticable slice near the top and some water stains throughout.. it also is stamped "Feinstes Kern-Juchten" at the top - any idea what that means?
Thanks guys for any info on this.

According to babelfish, Finest core Juchten.
I have no experience with their strops but if their razors are any indication it ought to be great.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanks Jimmy
I did some more searching and came up with some answers for the type of leather - it seems its a Russian calf or cowhide leather - either russian or in the russian style of tanning etc..

Still if anyone has a Puma strop please let me know if you think its better or worse than any other brand...
Thanks.

Check out if there's any mark that relates to the Puma brand of razors. It could be a brand that carried the same name... but there's only one way to find out if it's any good: buy it, rub it gently with a pumice stone and then treat it with some sort of leather conditioner. If the "slice" is not to big, you might have a real jewel there! That's what I would do...
