    Default My strop dressing

I sometimes get some scuffing on the smooth side when stropping particular blades. I usually rub these spots witgh my fingers, and the strop looks OK afterwards, but as soon as I strop again, the scuff mark comes right back. Adding some neatsfoot makes it look better for a short period of time, but then it all soaks in, and it's back to the scuffy look....

After my refinishing of the rough side of a TM Starter strop I had used beeswax and neatsfoot oil. So, I decided to go that route for the smooth side as well. And it seems to work great! In the past when using neatsfoot, for me, it seemed to make my strop slicker, not higher draw, anyhow, the addition of the beeswax seems to seal in the neatsfoot oil, as well as give the strop some higher draw at the same time. With all the screwing around I've done with this strop, it is remarkable supple, and feels great!

I have always been a proponent of beeswax. Glad it works for you.
