    3" Tony Miller strop here.Noooooo problems,just smooth,nice draw.No x-pattern unless I want to.Highly recommended.

    With handles that are attached via D-rings or just plain D-rings, the strop should stay nice and flat no matter how wide. I have a TM buffed horsehide, and an Illinois 827. The 827 has handles sewn right to the leather and unless I hold it properly (pinched handle or folding the handle over my fingers to keep it flat) the strop will cup while I am stropping.

    As far as width, that is personal preference territory; however, it does give you the option to x-pattern long and slight or tight and pronounced. It's always good to have options.

    I would say the harder thing to figure out is what kind of leather you are going with...

    My TM 3" latigo I got around 1/2007 it still looks almost like new, except a minor nick or so that is my fault totally, but no cupping at all. I store mine hanging on the back of a closet door in a dry room not in the humid bathroom though.
