    Default question about stropping

Someone asked this in the common mistakes thread but I didnt see an answer, although I could have just missed it.

If you improperly strop a razor and it somewhat dulls the edge, can it be corrected with proper technique or will the edge have to be honed again? Thanks in advance.

It depends how much damage the incorrect stropping did. If you caught it in time & can strop it correctly, then i firmly believe it should strop out. If it's too far gone it'll need honing again.
Strop it right & see how it reacts.

I haven't done any damage yet, I was just curoius. I got my razor last week and have only stropped it about three times and it's still shaving very well, but I've just been a little nervous that my technique might not be great yet so I've been reading as much as possible about stropping.

I won't dare buy a hone until I'm completely confident in my stropping technique.

If you go by the book (i.e. Razor stropping - Straight Razor Place Wiki), you should be on the safe side. Minimum pressure, equal strokes, proper flipping - and you are in business.

Well, as with all thing use a scientific approach. Try proper stropping and see if it works. The edges that I knocked off needed to be rehoned, but just touched up really.
