Hmmm I found this on ebay...
GREEN CHROME OXIDE - High grade material - 500g on eBay, also Other Lab Equipment, Lab Equipment, Medical Lab Equipment, Business, Office Industrial (end time 03-Jun-09 18:54:54 BST)
"GREEN CHROME OXIDE - High grade material - 500g"
    £9 inc. postage!

I wonder if it's any good for razors.

EDIT:> I'll soon find out, I ordered some.

    Probably so.
    I use it as well.

Melt some candle wax, add like 20 % liquid oil of choice and add the powder while stirring until there's no liquid wax left on top. You need little wax (1 Tablespoon) and a lot of powder to get a good portion.

I ordered some Chromium Oxide from Ebay that was meant for Glazing in Pottery but it works pretty good for me!

I bought that one int the first post some time ago and used for experimenting on my homemade strop. Just powder on oiled strop (sparingly spread) did not feel right. Than I made paste with the povder and washing liquid pasted it on the strop sparkled over the top finished it with 20-30 mins of intensive polishing with a bottle and voila. Polishes very nicely.

Washing liquid? Like for dish washing?
    I'll have to try!

The wax blend is good to dremel, cause its melts with rising temperature.

    Great chunks for that price!
Puma takes nearly as much for 25 grams!

I've just had a look at some old strops that came with razors
and found one with a not so bad leather.
Sanded it off and applied Chromium Oxide wax blend.
It works like crayons (wondering why people not actually buy pastel crayons!)
but the surface is not really smooth.
IT REALLY HELPS to have a hair dryer on hand and a scraper.
With a warm scraper it works like a charm.
