Default Good material for pasted strop?

So a buddy of mine who is a CNA had an extra gait belt lying around unused, I saw it and thought that it would make a good strop for pastes. It is made of 2" wide heavy duty webbed cotton fabric. Similar to the one in the pic. 60" long. Thoughts?

The picture isn't very clear, but my dad used to be an RN, and I'm pretty sure I've seen those before.

If that's what I'm thinking of, it's about the same textures as a linen canvas strop, but quite a bit softer feeling, and just a little smoother. They're also not elastic at all. They would pull tight just like any other strop.

I would think it would be fine as a pasted strop, but hopefully somebody with more experience could give you a more solid answer after reading my description.

*edit - on the ones I've seen, those colored bands are not raised or recessed at all. They're just made by using different colored threads during the manufacturing.
