Default Diamond Paste on a Flatbed Leather Hone

I have noticed, after running five razors over my .5 diamond pasted flatbed leather hone, that it's pretty dark (I'd imagine there are filiments of steel in it). Should I just leave it like this for another two or three months before I use it again? Or should I clean it? If so, with what and how do I leave it for packaging? Do we just not worry about the color of leather turning? If so, How do I tell when to clean and re-paste?

    Thanks,
    Chris

When my diamond paste gets dirty, I find that if I rub a few drops of water over it, the dirt comes off on my fingers and I then wipe it with a paper towel. The paste is a little darker than when new, but ready for a few more razors. Lynn

I would be careful using Goop or other "real" cleaners on a pasted strop very often. You paid good $$ for those diamonds, why scrub them right back off. I simply add a touch more pastes over time when I find the effectiveness of the pasted strop goes down. It does get pretty black but as long as there are diamond particles there it will continue to cut.
