    Default Source for vegan strops?

    Hey all,

So I've been wanting to buy a vegan strop for some time now, and have frequently considered buying one from Tony Miller as it looked like high quality. But now it doesn't look like he makes them anymore.

Does anyone know of any sources of vegan strops, or possibly have a nice used one they could bare to part with?

    Thanks for the help.

Actually, I think Tony is trying to arrange something with the supplier of his materials so that he can make them again. Check his site for an update. I don't remember exactly where I read this, but it was very recently.

Yes, I'm still working on it. Basically, while a great stable material to make a strop from and to use the manufacturing end is a bit hazardous. Heat sealing the edges with a flame releases fumes I would rather not have at my shop. There is not enough demand to warrant a fume hood and ventilation system just to do this job either.

My supplier of the material does fabricae as well so I am looking into having him cut and seal each raw piece then I will finish assembly here in my shop.

Not sure if this will be cost effective yet nor do I know if he will meet my standards for finish and accuracy on the cuts.

With the ongoing family issues this is on the back burner but as soon as I hear something positive I'll give them the go ahead.

    Thanks,
    Tony

Thanks Tony. I checked your site and saw that you have put some things on hold due to family problems. I will be checking for any updates and hoping that you can sell these strop again.

I wish you and your family the best of health and hope all turns out well. You are certainly right to put your family first.
