Thanked: 3DIY Paddle Strop Question
Gents,
I am new when it comes to the joys of straight razors and have a few questions.
I have a straight and a two sided leather strop on their way one side leather and the other is linen (checking the mail daily ).
From what I understand I will use the leather strop to maintain the professionally honed edge. The pasted paddle strop with balsa wood I am going to make will help me touch up a shave ready edge when needed.
When it comes to pastes I think I am going to go with Chromium Oxide 1.0 and .5. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of getting small amounts. After doing some searching I have only been able to find large bottle sizes being offered.
Also any opinions on mixing it with water vs mineral oil?
Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated.Last edited by jrlosh; 07-19-2009 at 01:18 AM.

I think mineral oil is the consensus.
I have also used Mibro # 6 found at Lowe's with success. It is by the hand tools with all the other polishing stuff.
