Default DOVO, JEMICO, KOHL? ... black strop paste.

Okay, I've searched the boards for a little while now, and I feel safe enough to assume this hasn't been discussed yet.

I bought a package of DOVO black and red strop paste and was planning on using only the black paste after my 8000 grit Norton water-stone (3 microns) and before my chromium oxide pasted strop (0.5 microns). I read on these boards in two different places that the black paste is between 1 and 2 microns (and the red is between 3-5 microns, so I have not much use for it).

I've become a little confused in my internet searches as I've come across three different brand names that SEEM to refer to this black paste (same packaging at least)! What is the connection between DOVO, JEMICO, and KOHL?

I found a good deal on the internet for buying the black paste more in bulk (and so I can buy it without the red strop paste): Amazon.com: Kohl Black Razor Strop Paste: Sports & Outdoors
I wanted to know if this KOHL black paste is he same as the DOVO black paste and, most importantly, if it is in fact 1-2 microns.

Wisdom on this matter would be absolutely lovely!

    edit:
Ok I just found out that Kohl is a type of black powder.. so that solves part of it.

The stuff in the white tube with yellow band also goes by the name of Kohl strop paste. Kohl is German for carbon. So I guess it contains carbon black aka lamp black that is also used in newspaper ink.

    Amazon.com: kohl strop

I did read on here somewhere that news paper is sometimes used for a final finish? so that would make sense
I myself know very little about pastes, or hones, or anything to do with blade sharpening, because I am just starting out, I do however know that the more I learn the less I seem to know hahaha

This applies to us all. On the forums you read a lot of information that is useless for newbs. To get started you ought to take a look at the basics info in wiki: Straight Razor Place Wiki

Read and digest that first and ask any question in the relevant forum if you need clarification. You can use a newspaper as a cheap strop.
