Default Using DOVO Prima Rindleder Strop

I recently bought a DOVO Prima Rindleder Strop and I later realized that classicshaving recommends using it as a "second" strop. Razor Strops, Hones, and Accessories.

Would it be worth using this strop to keep my razor sharp or should I invest in a two sided one and use this one for paste?

Is this your first strop? You will almost certainly put a few cuts and nicks in it over the next few weeks, so I'd wait to order another strop till you've practiced a bit. The Dovo strop is perfectly capable of keeping your razor in shape providing you're stropping correctly.

Yes, it's my first strop. I've already put a couple tiny nicks in it - nothing real major.

Thanks, I was worried that I would have to get the two sided for every day use.

Does it have a canvas side?

A few small nicks will not make a difference. Why they recommend a second? Perhaps they want to sell you another one.

    I have two:

    3" Leather/Canvass for regular stropping.
A 4 sided paddle strop with 3 sides pasted with .50/1.0/3.0.

I consider the paddle strop to be the a very important purchase for me as this is key in keeping all my straights very sharp. Not to mention, when I learned to strop, I made some boo boos stropping too heavy and the pasted strops reestablished the edge sharpness again.

Good Luck and I hope this helps,

    Pabster

These are a nice little strop for daily use but at that price maybe the seller is implying you can afford another for pastes.

You want a canvas side ideally. I think you can use a newspaper strop in a pinch though.

    use it

I still use my dovo strop from time to time. You'll nick the crap out of it, but its a good strop anyway.
