    Default Newbie Question

Can a person strop the night before, or is it best to strop prior to shaving? I did not know if time was a factor. Thank you, all.

Most likely will better if you strop before shave.

Strop just before and after use. As I was told since you are working with steel it begins to develop small amounts of corrosion on the sharpened edge within 5 minutes of use. Stroping just before cleans and polishes that edge. Or so I'm told.

+1 on the corrosion thing. However, you can oil your blade after you strop if time is really an issue. I don't THINK the sharpening/refining/straightening affect will be changed. I THINK its purely a corrosion thing.

I don't strop before since I give them a good stropping after the shave and insure they are clean and ready for the next shave.

Before I became good at keeping my blade sharp, I did a little stropping before the shave and more after the shave.
