It confirms something I've found as well, namely that chalk paste on canvas does the edge some good!

I bought a DOVO Blackstar a while back and a strop from Trumpers and the canvas side came ready pasted with the white stuff. Being just that tiny bit abrasive, it does seem to really help get a good final edge before I shave.

To be honest I've been so impressed with this paste type that when I get my next strop (I've been reading good things about the 3" SRD Red Latigo, and they are very pretty!) I`m going to white paste the canvas side on it if it doesnt come already pasted as standard. It really does work!

    Thanks again for the information!
My DOVO white / grey paste arrived this morning.

I put three lines of it on the linen side of the strop, used the back edge of a butter knife to smooth/spread it all in (worked great by the way), and am going to let it dry for the next 24 hours.

Being that I just used for the first time my CrOx charged balsa board to slightly refresh a razor (10 light passes) which worked great, it will be interesting to see what the pasted linen does.

It recommends only 10-15 passes on the linen after it's pasted!!

So, Phrancisco, any more advice on application and performance? As you know the old E. Morris Mello Drag leather/linen strop has been cleaned and refurbed; Dovo white paste should be here today or tomorrow. My homemade strops were well crafted and have been quite good but, I gotta say, I feel much more shaver-ly wth an honest to gosh old barber's strop hanging from the hook. More... stout. Paste should be the bees knees.
