    Default Ambidextrous stropping?

I was thinking of something this morning. we talk about how essential to really shaving well using both hands is. and I am actually ambidextrous in just about everything, but have never tried stropping left handed.

you guys switch hands when stropping?

I'm almost tempted to give this a try, but I'm afraid that with my left hand I would put a big slice in my strop.

+1 It took me a heck of a long time to get to shaving with both hands. I can't see myself risking the strop or the razor for that parlor trick. If you get to where you can do it though and post a video I'll take my hat off to you.

I just gave it a try. Its going to take a long time and a lot of practice until I don't look like a noob stropping.

I think I'll actually give it a try.....I will take it extremely slow though! I remember when I tried throwing with my left (wrong) hand and it felt very awkward and jerky. I imagine stropping with my left hand will feel just as awkward. I really don't see any benefit from learning to strop with both hands (it makes sense to learn to shave with both) but it'll be fun to try!

I've always stropped ambidextrous. I also use most other tools ambidextrous, including my handguns.

Yeah, I really don't see any need to switch hands
when stropping. At best it would be a waste of
time and at worst I would destroy my strop

(I shave with both hands, totally symmetrically)

The advantage of using both hands on doing an activity is the ability to put the correct angle on an object you can't get to with your dominant hand. So the advantage of stropping with your left hand or non dominat hand, if we are talking about a right handed person, would be having to hang your strop on the wrong side or a very small bathroom. Since most people can just take a step to face in front of the strop, I really can't see why I would want to do this. But as listed above it would be a good parlor trick

I can guarantee you that I would 1) cut my strop, 2) cut my finger, 3) drop the razor 4) cry like a little girl :P
