How does the draw compare to latigo? (I think latigo draws too much for my stropping preference.)

Thanked: 4942The Red Latigo has a heavy draw. The Black a little less.
The Premium I draw has a nice silky feeling draw.

Thanked: 21Well, my Premium I arrived today, and it is impressive. Previous strop was an Illinois 835. The 835 worked and actually improved quite a bit as it got broken in, but there is no comparison in terms of quality.
Everything about the Premium I is very nice. The difference in weight alone is remarkable. The quality of the leather and the hardware is top notch. Drawing a razor across it is amazing. Wonderful feel and very clean sound compared to the Illinois. Very smooth with a nice sense of feedback to it.
I'll have to give the webbing some time to see how it works out. It is very flexible compared to the very stiff second strop on the Illinois. It also has a much coarser texture to it. Might take some adjusting,
I must say that I really like the 3 inch width, and the additional length should be helpful. I stropped a razor across it just to see, but since I've already shaved today I was only able to test the blade on the back of my hand. I'll post again after I've used it a few times for real.

It is my most used strop. It is a strop that should be part of every straight shaver's den!

Thanked: 7SRD PREMIUM 1
Thanks for all the comments on the SRD Premium 1.. My new one arrived this morning and like previous writers i was very impressed with the quality and thickness of the leather and the robustness of the hardware i have no doubt it will perform as intended. the second strop is a webbing which i have absolutelay no experience of stropping a razor on but again going by the quality of the SRD Premium 1 i have no doubt it will cut the mustard or it would not be there ... I will comment on the strop again after i have used it a week or two.. Best Regards to all Scotchie

I reviewed both the premium I and II leathers. The Premium I has more draw with the Premium II being almost identical to the feeling of Horsehide (fast, light draw). I really like the draw on my broken in Premium I, it is as though the surface is covered in honey and it polishes my blades very well.

Thanked: 7srd premium 1
Hi folks used the premium 1 good number of times now and i like it very much it has a lovely feel to it the webbing part is rapid if you let it be and it makes a nice noise as the blade goes backwards and forwards stopped using my old favourite now and gifted it to my son..he will look after it and plenty stropping left in it still.. George
