Thread: embossed leather strop?

I found a Premier strop set in an antique store (I don't think its the same company that currently offers strops under that name). It has a plain leather strop and and embossed leather strop (instead of a fabric one). The embossing looks like it was pressed with window screening. Has anybody tried using anything like this and does it work well as a substiture for a fabric strop?
