Paddle Strop
Can someone recommend me a good paddle strop? I've looked at the lee valley and ones offered at classicshaving.com. The classicshaving.com ones are 50 bucks vs 25 dollars for the leevalley. Are the classic shaving ones actually better and if so why? Thanks!

Yes. Tony Miller offers some very nice look'n paddle strops for a very reasonable price. They are highly recommended by others here at the club. Check out his stuff in the items for sale section!

I went and got one of Tony's strops. It is very very nice! Highly recommended and a great deal.

I had a hell of a time trying to decide between the 2 sided and 4 sided strops and which leathers for each. I am very heavy into knives and I wanted to use the strop for my knives as well so that complicated my decision. In the end I went with a 4 sided strop with the standard leathers. The 4 sides is very handy and I am glad I went with it instead of 2 sides.

i got the 4 sided with the standard leathers also. i found it much easier to use than the hanging strop i have and my shave was much better than before

A three sided strop......no problem. I will go peel the leather off of oe side of my four sided strop <g>.
I could make a triangular one but the cost would e higher than a 2 sided beacuse of how I mill my stock. A triangular strop will have a sharper included angle between the faces and more subject to dmagae it dropped or bumped. It will also be much harder to get good corner seams for the same reason.
It can be done but not on an economical basis. Same for box strops. They look cool with a compartment for pastes of a raor or two but much more work. I could build jigs to ease cutting and asembly but there would be too little demand to go through that.
Cool ideas though.
