well, i'm just not that well versed in the nuances of stropping, i suppose; when would you ever want a rounded edge on a tool designed for cutting?

    You calling me inglorious ???

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

rounded edge? I bet they are talking the bevel, also sometimes known as an "apple seed" edge by some knife makers. It is a more durable edge. Pretend your bevel is this "V" the edge being the bottom of the "V" and the sides being the bevel. Now plump the sides of the "V" a bit but not so much as to lose the cutting edge and you will have an "apple seed" edge

I think it was reference to a movie "inglorious basterds" (or something like that). Maybe it displayed hollywood's version what stropping should look like and maybe they rolled the razor on the edge. I dunno. Haven't seen the movie.

If I remember correctly it was a knife (bayonet?) being stropped on boot leather.

    Dialog (my paraphrase):
    Officer: Stay calm.
Soldier (looks up from stropping knife on boot): Don't I look calm?
    Officer: I guess you do.
    Calm, but intense.

It looked to me like a strip of leather he was holding with one hand, the other end pinned under his boot.

Good movie, I enjoy QT's suspense build ups.
