    Cute dog.....I hope its O.K.

    No you don't need them, but my 4 sided pasted paddle strop has been so handy, I would be kicking myself in the butt if I didn't get it. It was a great purchase and it has kept all my straights very sharp for the past 9 months and that is without any honing.
