    as for estate sale strops, if they're tidy (no nicks, or cuts - or no bad ones anyway) and old, probably worth a punt.

    Both my strops are old, never had a new one.

    I've gotten some really nice vintage ones from eBay too. It's the luck of the draw but if the photos are detailed it is less of a gamble.
