Default Cheapo strops part II....finished one

Made my way into the next town over and went to the Tandy leather. Picked up a latigo strip...2"x72" for just under $30. That was enough to make two 24" strops (one plain and one for the chromium oxide) and still had enough left over to make loops on both ends. No special tools were used except a pocket knife to cut the leather. The loop holes were punched using an awl on the Swisstool and was lashed together using a brown paracord type shoelace I had laying around the house!

They had a 3" veg tanned piece for the same price, but figured that the latigo was more of a 'premium' stropping media.

    Looks good.

Thanks for posting a bigger picture. I've been looking at the Tandy Latigo online.(tiny pictures bleh)

Been thinking of getting some of that and some 2" Hemp or cotton webbing.

I made a $5 strop out of scrap latigo. I used a stitching awl to sew D-rings on the ends. The strop works well. I left it at my girlfriend's house so I have a strop to use when I stay there.
