    Default New Strop Advice Needed

I need a new strop and I'm going to buy the new paddle strop over at SRD. I want to pasted the rough side and I'm wondering if I should go with the .5 micron green paste or the .25 micron diamond spray they sell.

    Any ideas, advice?

    Thanks

I have heard that the .25 micron diamond spray will make a razor crazy sharp, but way too harsh for most people. What a lot of people do (at least I have heard it frequently) is spray one strop with the .25 diamond and get sharp on that, then have another strop coated with the CO to smooth the blade edge out, even though it is not as fine. The reasoning being that diamond has a sharp edge crystal structure leaving super sharp lines in the razor, where CO has a soccer ball shaped crystal structure that leaves the blade razor sharp and smooth.

I am new to straight razor shaving too, and I have a strop and some CO on the way (purchases from ChrisL of SRP in the classifieds, $4 shipped).

    Just my $.02

If I had to choose one or the other I would probably opt for the chrom ox for all around utility. OTOH, that diamond spray is awfully good on the hanging felt that SRD sells though.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
