Default Linen or Smooth Cotton on a TM?

Hey all, I'm thinking again about purchasing one of Tony Miller's strops and was wondering what the difference is between the two materials. I am also interested in hearing opinions of, and experiences with each. Tony, your input would be especially helpful I'm sure.

    Thanks,

I've got a 2 1/2 Tony Miller with the horse/latigo/linen. I like the linen very much. I haven't tried the cotton.

I have both and they do the same job. It's more a matter of which do you prefer by feel. personally I like the linen.

I prefer the linen to his older cotton, but regrettably
I have not yet tried the new smooth cotton...

I also really like the linen, it is very easy to strop on and does wonders in terms of maintaining the edge

I've tried both. Don't know if the cotton I had was the new cotton, but it wasn't smooth, exactly. I have a linen strop on a red latigo artisan and I like it better than the cotton strop. It's really is just an aesthetic feel-thing, though. The linen just looks and feels nicer. I don't know if there was a performance difference.

I've got both a cotton/red latigo and linen/horsehide, and I never use the cotton/latigo. The linen/horsehide has saved my life

    Dave,

My vote is for the linen. I like the way the razor feels on this material better than stropping on cotton - and I got both from Tony. Which is the better for the razor - I don't have a clue.

I have to second this one. Both the cotton and the linen feel GREAT, but the linen has a little added resistance which makes it feel downright fun. Both rock though.
