Default Care and feeding of new Latigo 2"

    afternoon, folx.

just got a wonderfull gift from SWMBO, Latigo 2" strop from Premier strop Co, which means i can turn that old belt strop into a paddle strop. now, my questions are:

when should i use the linen strop?

    any special care instructions?

    thanks in advance

20 passes on linen prior to stropping on the leather part.Personally iI use linen with red paste to refresh the blade , but I am sure plenty of people will be against it.

A long time ago thebigspendur did a "great experiment" and found that 60 linen and 60 leather were most effective and there was no payoff in going beyond that . I do 50 and 50 linen and leather. No paste on my main strop and all I do to condition the leather is rub it a few times with the palm of my hand before I strop.

The natural oils in the skin will condition it and it isn't overlkill. I also strop 20 or 30 after the shave following rinsing the blade off and wiping it with a tissue. Just my routine, not necessarily the best way.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
