Thanked: 0Automatic stroppers?
I'm just wondering if any of you have used a vintage automatic stropper. Do they work? Below is a picture of what I am talking about...but it is not mine:

Thanked: 0Yes, that is exactly what my question is pertaining to. I see he received no answers about the quality of stropping either.

...
I'll take a further look around the net to see if I can come up with some feedback.

Ok.
This is the best I could come up with. A guy was selling a "Kampfe Bros. A. J. Jordan Sheffield Star Razor Set" on eBay (BTW, when you visit the link it'll tell you that bidding on that item has ended. Just scroll down to the bottom of the screen!). In this kit, it included an antique automatic strop. The seller's name/alias is : fleurdumal.
My advice would be to take a look at the link I included and make sure we're talking about the same thing. After all, the picture in his eBay sale was kinda hard for me to tell if it was the same as the first link I included (in the eBay link, he has it unassembled, in a box). Then...send him an e-mail asking him about the quality, and the advantages and disadvantages.
Hope this helps.

I too am wondering as I own one, that needs the strap handles sewn/repaired, or just new leather period...I do recall that later models had two razor blade holders, one for straight razors and one for double sided blades...care has to be taken when inserting the blade at first so it doesn't gouge the leather...I have I guess the earlier style for straight razors and have never used it...yet.
