I never use linen, either; preferring a barber hone for 1 or 2 laps instead.

I noticed Johnny J uses nylon webbing, so I've considered using the strap on my camera bag. Any thoughts?
I wouldn't try anything until warranted. Leather alone may surprise you if haven't used it exclusively. Heh. kinda like linen does if you think it aint a helper. If your beard and razor are right for each other you could likely make it 1 week w/o doing any thing. I think with 2 razors and a practice strop you would coast. 1 is for just in case happy travels!

I've been using denim for quite some time. I stapled a piece tightly over a 1/2 inch piece of balsa wood and use cerium oxide powder on it or you can try diamond spray or Yellow Stone. As someone stated earlier, use it same as linen. Good stuff. Just make sure you stretch it as tightly as possible so it won't bunch up.

How about a paddle strop, one side leather, one side denim. Full speed ahead.............
