the first strop i ever owned was an antique 1 1/4" x 6" loom strop fixed on one side of a hollowed/dished wooden block.

i love it..

my horsehide barber's hanging strop may give me a better edge (maybe, but good enough is good enough) but i will sonner grab the lil strop when i'm shaving because its so handy. it may even be easier to strop on, less elbow.

i'd also sooner travel with it, as it is the same size as a common razor box, and, lucky me, came with a very nice finishing stone of the same dimensions. (no slurry unfortunately, but a very nice finisher)

i'm about to make a few for fun, and hope to sell them to those that would like one..

if someone were to cut down some chinese 12ks into a common size (1 1/4" x 6") they'd make a great, simple set. I just might do that in the future. for those that want a slurry stone the only thing would be whether to cut a slurry stone out of those six inches, or to have an additional bit of stone.
(or just get a double set of 6 inch stones, slurry stone and backup all in one )

tell me what you folks think/want.
