I would think having a handle might be more user friendly, but the dimensions of the strop seem good

    Randy,
The leather texture and stiffness is exactly the same as the other Illinois strops like the #127. The difference it the lack of a handle. It feels far stiffer than my #1 or #2 (not sure which you already have). The have the typical Illinos hard linen which is not bad either. I recently sold my #361 on eBay since I have my own strops but it was a favorite. ( I can still get these if you want, probably less than $40).
I have gotten a lot of less than perfect strops fron Illinois and that is why I started making my own. If you buy one make sure the surfaces does not have deep creases across it.

I have a co-worker who was given a cheap shaving set up. Here's the funny part. He received a Shavette...AND a strop! Two shaves and he was done! I can pick up the strop for around $30-35...we are still negotiating. I'll give it a good "once over" and then decide.

Tony- I have your #2 strop.

Thank to all for the input!
