    Default SRD Premium IV

    Hey all,

Having recently been browsing around on the SRD website, I saw the SRD Premium IV bridle leather strop, and it definitely caught my eye. I read treydampier's review, which was definitely a glowing one, but was wondering if anyone else had any experiences with this strop. I currently have a lower-end Kanayama strop which I use as my daily strop, and a Filly from RupRazor that I use mostly for the CrOx on the back of it. Not sure quite why the itch to buy a new strop struck, but it definitely has. Also looking at the Hand American Old Dog 830, given Seraphim's latest thread.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

I had a chance to see the SRD strops up at the NY meet a few weeks ago.

Let me tell you they ALL looked AWSOME! I have just put one on my Christmas list and hopefully I will be getting one soon!

Dont hesitate they really are nice, you won't be dissapointed!

Strops are like razors -- a person can never have too many. True, you can have more than you NEED, but why stop there? Seriously, having several strops makes straightshaving more fun and each strop has its own characteristics that make it better in some situations than others. Regarding SRD strops, of which I have several, I don't think you can go wrong. They're top notch. I'm very pleased with mine. However, I must admit that the strops I most enjoy using are those that I've made myself.

    Great minds think alike.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

The one great thing about SRD is that no matter what product your buy from Don and Lynne, it is a quality product. I am totally satisfied with all purchases (strop, brushes, lather bowl, etc...).

Wow, that is a lot of ringing endorsements for SRD strops, and a whole bunch of enabling! Gotta love what the ADs do to us all. I think my other hesitation is the handles. I've never tried them before, but for some reason, I prefer the aesthetics of a barber's end. But you'll never know how you feel about something unless you try it! Anyone know if SRD is open to custom jobs? Seems unlikely, but I may as well email them and see. Even still, I think you may have me convinced.

I felt the same way. I felt that if a pro barber used a squared off end that a handle was for an amateur. Then I got some strops with handles and now I think I like them better. YMMV.

Well, may as well give it a shot then. A new leather, a new width, and handles, that's a lot of first in a product. Best way to figure out what I like I suppose!

I have the Premium IV and love it. I'm glad I was talked into buying. The draw it nice and even the entire length. The quality is superb. And I do like the handles, it's easier on the hands during a longer stropping cycle.
