    Default Ebay strop question

I recieved a B&B strop from a razor purchase. It a beauty and barber. Shinny on top, thick w felt strop also. Can this be used? Or part of it? Like the felt. Can i pumice the leather then use leamsfoot oil or saddle soap. If its not useable what happens if someone were to use a strop like this. I mean if you can use cardboard or newpaper why not this? I need to be enlightened.

    Thank You

I've never owned one of those B&Bs but leather strops are shiny on top. Try it. Use the felt first and then the leather. If it is good you're in business and if it isn't you'll know soon enough.

If the stropping improves the edge it is working. If it degrades the edge I would say either it is a lack of technique or perhaps the material the strop is made from.

I know of guys who strop on an old leather belt out of their closet and do alright. I haven't seen one of these first hand but if it is smooth and has no lumps, bumps or anomalies it ought to be alright.

I'm sure it probably isn't of the quality leather that an SRD or a Tony Miller strop would be but if it is leather I don't see why it wouldn't be usable. Guys are getting good results from old seat belts out of cars and newspaper.

BTW, if you aren't happy with the quality and you paid with Paypal you can return it regardless of the seller's policy on returns if I'm not mistaken.

Well i was able to try it out. Worked out great. I used it on my henckles friodur 8/8. This was my second shave with this razor. My first i also brought my GD. The friodur did not out shine the GD. I used this strop today. Damn Near BBS with the first pass. 30 on the felt and 60 on the leather.
