    Default Questions about Chromium Oxide

I'm new here. This is my first post on this forum. I have been straight razor shaving for about a week and a half now and have had great success with the information that I have absorbed while lurking here. I bought a Morris Collegiate from Tony Miller and it shaves very well. I have a flat strop from Hand American that I had been using on my knives before the razor business came about. So far I have just been using the smooth, unpasted side and one of two things is happening. Either the razor is getting sharper or I am getting better at shaving with it. I think is is a little of both. The other side is charged with the green chromium oxide that Hand American sends with their products. I have no idea what type of size the abrasive would be in it (1 micron? .5 micron?). Is this suitable to use on a razor? Will it do a little more than the smooth, unpasted leather strop?

The chromium oxide from HandAmerican is 0.5 micron, and it works wonderfully with razors. It will polish the edge more than the smooth side as it contains abrasives. When the razor starts pulling a little, do about 30 round trips on the chromium oxide, wipe the blade clean so as not to spread chromium oxide to the plain strop, then about 30 round trips on the plain side.
