Strop deflection would have to be severe before problems would show up on a razors edge.
Hunching over the strop and relying on just the arm to keep tension on the strop is the way too creating the wrong muscle memory
Tensioning hand too the hip/waist area, straight back and shoulders back with only the head lent forward too view the proceedings is my way and of course all this in a relaxed manner Let your body weight act as a dampener for the strop.

Would not the practice of a relaxed stance with accompanied hand rubbing of the strop teach muscle memory of a practical kind?
