I promise tomorrow I will force myself to take the strop out of the packaging and try it with a butter knife...I still feel bad.

I am really trying not to get my hopes up everytime I look in my mailbox for te razor coming from Lynn, but I only get to check my mail every few days since Im out of town working often and I was a little disapointed it wasnt there today...ohwell...there I still have till the end of next week before I have to fly out for a while.

I bet that strop smells REALLY good...yummmm

    JL,

Be sure you have something to hang the strop from
when the time comes to use it.

During your first few stropping attempts with your
razor DO NOT panic or feel devistated if you accidently
put a nick or two on each end of your strop. I did, but
of course that doesn't mean that you will. The nicks
in mine haven't affected it's preformance and it looks
as though I won't be adding any more. Nock on wood.

All jokes aside, you may want to practice with a butterknife
first, this may eliminate nicks on yours. When you do strop
with the razor for the first few times, do not lift the edge,
this is how I nicked mine.

Good luck and god's speed on the delivery of your razor.

    Regards,

    Terry

    OK JL,

Your at 200+ posts. Time to get the strop out and start practicing. The razor will be there today so you better be careful. $20 penalty for rolling the edge on a Lynn honed razor.

Not to mention the nick you'll put in that pristine strop!

Hey JL, I think you just got called out. You might just have to "man up" and actually shave with the butter knife now!

Seriously, though, I realize it's hard to wait, but your razor will be there soon, and you'll have that first shave (and probably first bleeder) that marks you as a real straight razor man.

Then, of course, your posting average will go down, because you'll be too busy shaving, honing, stropping, and faceturbating to come and hang out with us.

JL, rub the strop with your hands in the meantime. Tony calls it stropurbation. It'll make it draw well and put a smile on the horse's face!!

With my 200+ posts I am starting to feel like a poser without a razor! I don't know about a butter knife...but the letter opener is starting to look a bit tempting...

I faceturbate so often now, I think my hands have faceburn... I cant imagine getting any closer of a shave than I get now with my DE, but I will definitely have more pride in the shave wit the straight.

    JL,

Make sure that whatever you use has a bit of width to it.

Don't be disappointed if it doesn't happen for a while. One of the biggest frustrations for DE shavers is it takes time before you can do as well as the DE.

Nah, I wont be disappointed...I'll just finish the job off with the DE until I no longer have too.
