why a paddle strop
I have the leather and canvas strop,
I have the belgian stone (blue and yellow)
I have an ever rougher stone.
Why would I need a paddle strop (or don't I?)

You don't. I use mine as a convience for travel. Easier to pack and it won't get creased. I use mine to ensure the razors edge is stropped correctly, it won't sag. I use mine to embed grit paste on to enhance the edge, especially during a shave if I don't want to wait for a stone to soak. I also use mine as a backup, when I've added strop dressing to my strop and don't have time for it to dry.

Packing My Bags
I got mine for travel. It's about to see a lot of use, too. I also have a pocket paddle that I use with 0.5 and 0.25 paste to finish my edges, but with a coticule in your arsenal tha might not be as necessary for you, unless you're traveling!

Thanked: 2209Agreed! Almost, ...the 0.5 micron and the 0.25 micron pastes will provide an even sharper edge. But... some people don't like their razors that sharp. The only way you will know is to try it.

If you are happy with the edge you are getting you don't need it. I just got one recently and I find it is nice for touch ups, to get that super sharp edge again between honing.
