Default Chromium oxide + palm to strop

    Hello,

I just wanted to put this in:

Sometimes, I take high class chromium oxide oil colour (acrylic doesn´t work here) and put a little bit on my palm (the part beneath the little finger). A little bit means about the amount you get, when you only tip a finger on the opening. Rub it in.
Then, I strop my razor on it. No pressure, of course. The advantage is, that you are able to strop certain parts of the blade that seem to be not as sharp as the rest and I personally have a better feeling what is happening with the blade.

Maybe, this is a way to maintain a razor for one or the other person.
I hope, it helps some of you.

    Regards, tok

Wow, a pasted palm.....you win for originality. On the other hand (), if it works for you, I think that's great. Thanks for sharing your idea and welcome to SRP.

I have heard Chromiun Oxide is a carcinogen. This would seem to be maybe not the best thing to do if that is true.

+1 to Lawson's comment. The stuff is toxic. Here is a section of the materials data sheet for chromium oxide:

U.S. Precautionary Labeling: WARNING! Causes Irritation. Caution: Cancer Hazard. Harmful If Swallowed or Inhaled. Excep- tional Health Hazard: Read Material Safety Data Sheet. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, clothing. Avoid breathing dust. Keep in tightly closed container. Use with adequate ventilation. Wash throughly after handling.
International Labeling: Avoid contact with eyes. After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of water. Keep container tightly closed.

It might be best to keep it off your skin!
