    Default Red Imp Strops $$$

I really don't need another strop, nor do I need any more razors for that matter. But when I see one go for $79 ( 6629451809 )
I couldn't help bidding on this one. Last year near mint Red Imps' were selling for $40.

210000181771 - I am not sure how well this one will clean up. It might be as easy as putting a little neatsfoot oil on it and have a nice looking strop. Or I might have paid $7.99 for linen and hardware, which isn't all that bad. Any thoughts on the condition of the leather?

    Thanks Glen

yes prices on Eboy have been going up quite a bit recently. I picked up an absolutly NOS red Imp Strop about two years ago for about $30.00.

The one you bought doesn't look bad but strops are hard to tell in photos because many times you can't see creases dings and cuts so you never know what your getting until it arrives. The interesting thing with yours is the seller doesn't show the top of the strop and the bottom doesn't say red imp. Mine has a logo with something like "can't be beat like a certified check" on the bottom and has the imp logo on top with gold print on it. But for what you paid you can't lose much.

I couldn't remember seeing one with advertising on it either. Just looking around again today produced another Red Imp strop with another company name on it.

210000181771 - this strop came in the mail today. The leather shows little or no use with no nicks or cuts. The linen is unused as well. The light area is absorbing Neatfoot oil like crazy. I am hoping it will catch up and get its color back. HH Smith was a razor company, I thought it was a personalized strop.

Sounds like you did good. Even if the color doesn't come back thats just cosmetics. The main thing is that you got a quality strop in great shape for a song!
