How's It Hanging?
Your hanging strop, I mean. What did you think?
At what height is it anchored, relative to your body? At what height, relative to your body, do you grip the free end? Do you pull it toward you, such that you lap away-then-toward-you; or do you pull it across your body, such that you lap side-to-side?
For example, mine is anchored to the wall, 2-3 inches higher than my belly button (there was already a handy, well-mounted hook in the wall). I hold the free end a few inches higher than the anchored end, alongside my ribcage. I pull it toward me, stropping away from me then back to me, away then back to me. If anyone ever open the bathroom door as I strop, I will likely first cut my hand off with the thing, then drop it into the toilet.
But what is everybody else doing? How's it hanging?

Mine all go on a waist high hook. I oull it at a 45 deg angle to my body with the held end a few inches higher than the hook so it runs uphill a little. Same as you, if someone opens the door I'll be a lefty <g>.
For paddle strops I prefer to use them while sitting with it laying across my thigh, near my knee. This give me a little cushion effect and allows for slight variations as I strop. When I used them flat on a table I found any variations on my hand movement caused me to lift the spine. The tigh methods is akin to using a folded towel under a Norton for the same cushion effect.
Hones....anything smaller than a Norton is hand held.

I fashioned a loose loop from a tie wrap, and slid it around a door knob. I clipped my strop to the tie wrap. I typically sit in my chair when stropping, and pull the strop toward the middle of my chest, so it's slightly angled downward coming toward me. I strop toward & away from me on the hanging strop, and use a side-to-side motion when hitting my pasted strops.

I have my strops (none pasted) hanging from my bedroom door handle, secured with a auto radiator hose clamp. They are basically waist height. My method is to strop away/towards on the strop. Oh, and I live alone, so no worries about someone opening the door!

I added a strong chrome eye hook to the bathroom door at waist height and hang the strop from this. I generally pull the strop so its at 45 degrees (give or take). When not in use the strop stays attached as it is but the hand end gets hung up onto a clothes hook so in effect is upside down. (Keeps it way from grimey kids hands)

Deviant Behaviour
I had my hanging strop strung at about waist height, but that was when ot was in the bedroom and I didn't like waking my wife with my early morning stroping when she had been working late. When I moved it into the bathroom the only place I was happy with was 2 metres off the floor with a 1 metre cord! I held it out till it made a 45º angle with the top of the strop about chest high.
I'm using a paddle strop now and I hold it in my hand.

Sounds like my setup is pretty orthodox. Thanks guys, I'd been wondering.
Sitting down, eh, Kyle? If I can conveniently move my stropping out of our tiny bathroom sometime, I'd like to give seated stropping a try. Sounds comfy!

I have mine hanging with the top chest high (I am 6'2") That way i can pull it down at a 45 degree angle and get a good stropping action. Its by the medicine cabinet and the bottom is just below the counter height when it hangs. we have the taller cabinets as my wife and I are tall.
