Potassium Silicate Strop Treatment
About one year ago I treated a latigo strop with Potassium Silicate. I wanted to try it for a while before sharing results. Having two made from the same hide, there is an improvement over the none treated one. Treated strop has much better draw and overall performance and no complications have developed.
I would not do it to a new high quality strop, but for the DIYrs try it out. Mix in hot distilled water and do not allow it to become too viscous. Apply liberaly with soft brush and work strop with glass bottle. Allow sufficient time to dry and break in with smooth glass bottle.
