I have travelled with mine. I just make sure it is flat on the bottom of the bag.

I travel with my strop. You can't always ensure they remain flat all the time, but as long as they aren't folded into an unnatural position, or creased, they should be fine. I'll often roll mine up in a very loose roll and store it in a side pocket of the bag. I usually hang mine in the hotel bathroon, but DON'T FORGET IT THERE! I know at least one member here forgot his custom strop on the back of a hotel bathroom door, where it was hung for service.

As for brush travel tips, a travel brush is great if you are on the road alot. Otherwise, you could shake out and dry your brush as much as possible before rolling it in a small towel or storing it in a protective tube. Even a paper towel roll could be used in a pinch.

An inexpensive option for a travel brush might
be a Burma Shave boar bristle. You can get
them from Wal Mart for about $6.00.

I'm using a paddle while I'm NFA and it works fine. Takes some extra care and some extra laps, but do miss my hanger. I guess it's a trade off. Do you want to undertake the hassle of keeping it from warping, or teh hassle of the care and attention of using teh paddle. Up to you.

But why would you want to?! Just wrap it in an old paper towel tube cut to size. The cardboard will absorb moisture and help prtect the lifespan of the brush. Or go with a brushless cream.

I've never traveled with a strop, but I would think one good safeguard to prevent leaving it behind would be to zip tie it to the main door, so that you would HAVE to see it upon exiting the room.

I travel over four months of each year and have tried packing both hanging and paddle strops. I've found that a hanging strop can be too easily bent out of shape when stored inside the small backpack I use for travelling. I now pack one of Tony's two sided paddle strops that has Latigo leather on one side. Highly recommended.

I can't speak of traveling with a strop, but I did travel for 8 years with a brush. I have a nice travel brush and metal tubed Taylor shave cream that I use on the road with a Excel razor. I also shave in the shower, so I carry a nofog mirror. I gotten in the habit of a check out ritual I run after I'm all packed and ready to walk out the door. Check the desk, nightstand, drawers in dresser, closet, bathroom counter and bathroom shower. More than a few times this ritual has saved me items forgotten in the hurry to check out.

    Hi there Bernie,

A check out ritual is certainly needed when traveling with a straight. You sure don't want to forget your strop and all the other needed ecoutrements that make this hobby so enjoyable. Speaking of good travel brushes, last year, I splurged and got myself a Simpsons "Major" turnback. I have no regrets whatsoever about spending the extra cash for this brush. It's nice to look at and a great little brush to use.

would it hurt to roll up the strop? not any bends, just curled up? if not, take a piece of 4" pvc pipe, with a test cap glued to one side, cut it enough to fit the width of the strop, the just press on the othe test cap as a cover. ill post a pic in a few to explain. sorry for the plumber lingo
